Fly Away Fly Away Fly Away Gone
The fog on the left is a cloud drifting in--this is Hosmer's Grove at 7,000 feet, habitat and refuge for Hawaiian Honey Creeper. Like most beautiful critters, these birds suffered human greed, beginning with capes for Hawaiian royalty. But no more. Though habitat is shrinking and/or dying, the remaining flock loves life and daily searches for nectar. These finches are nectavores, and each has a uniquely shaped beak.
